Yal-ku Lagoon
Swimming and snorkeling in this beautiful Akumal lagoon is like being in a fresh water aquarium. Gorgeous fish and beautiful vegetation are in and around the lagoon! Snorkel gear can be rented daily or weekly in the local dive shops if you don't have your own.
Akumal Bay
This beautiful sandy beach and and water activity area is complete with swimming, diving, fishing, snorkeling, Catamaran, kayak and wind surfing are available. Right on the beach we also have boutiques, a beach snack bar and Lol Ha Restaurant.
Kids Club
The Kids Club is wonderful option for parents who want to spend some hours without the kids during the day for diving, snorkeling, or a quiet dinner for two in the evening. Kids Club has an outside game area and an inside area with many toys and movies. Open daily from 9am - 2pm and 6pm - 9pm.
Diving and Snorkeling
Akumal is a perfect home base for a diving vacation. The weather is generally good year round and the Caribbean is beautiful. If it rains, you can always dive or snorkel in the freshwater cenotes which have made the area famous.
You can get certified to dive with Jorge Gonzalez who offers private diving classes. He also takes people snorkeling in caverns for a really special adventure unique to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. A professional cave and cavern diver and dive guide, you can see Jorge Gonzalez in the IMAX film Journey Into Amazing Caves, which was filmed in this part of Mexico.
